Joseph Healy
Joseph Healy, a true visionary, has spent countless hours immersed in the world of Lincoln Logs. His passion for these iconic wooden blocks is evident in the intricate and awe-inspiring structures he constructs. With a keen eye for engineering and a flair for the artistic, Healy defies the laws of gravity by balancing towering edifices that seem to defy logic. Each piece, painstakingly placed, is a testament to his dedication and skill.
Beyond his architectural feats, Healy's creativity extends to the realm of music. As a talented composer, he arranges and produces captivating music videos that seamlessly blend animation, stop motion, time lapse, and live action. These visually stunning masterpieces showcase his ability to combine various artistic mediums to create truly unique and engaging content. Healy's passion for Lincoln Logs and his talent for music composition make him a truly remarkable individual.
A Passion for Music Education
My educational journey has been deeply rooted in music. I have had the privilege of studying under renowned educators and honing my skills at esteemed institutions.
Orff-Schulwerk Certification: I have a strong foundation in the Orff-Schulwerk approach to music education, having completed both Level 1 and Level 2 certification at Baldwin Wallace University. This training has equipped me with the knowledge and skills to create engaging and effective music learning experiences for students of all ages.
Advanced Degrees: I hold a Master of Music in Music Composition from the University of Louisville and a Bachelor of Music in Music Composition and Music Theory from Kent State University. These degrees have provided me with a solid understanding of music theory, composition, and analysis.
Teaching Certification: In addition to my musical training, I have a Post-Baccalaureate Teaching Certification from West Chester University. This certification has enabled me to apply my knowledge and skills to the classroom and become a successful music educator.
A Dedicated Educator: My Journey
As a dedicated educator, I have had the privilege of shaping young minds and fostering a love of music for over a decade. My journey began in 2010 when I joined The School District of Philadelphia, where I have had the opportunity to work with a diverse range of students and colleagues.
My role as a general music teacher has allowed me to develop engaging and effective lesson plans that incorporate real-world applications and simulations. I strive to differentiate my instruction to meet the individual needs of each student and align my goals and activities with local and state standards. Beyond the classroom, I have been actively involved in organizing school concerts and concert schedules, collaborating with staff across disciplines, and maintaining accurate records.
In recent years, I have taken on additional leadership roles within the school community. As a member of Samuel Pennypacker Elementary School’s leadership team and building committee, I have been instrumental in shaping the school’s vision and direction. I have also served as the Positive Behavioral Interventions and Support (PBIS) Team Leader, where I have worked to create a positive and supportive learning environment for all students.
My commitment to professional development has been a constant throughout my career. I have participated in numerous workshops and conferences, including the Supportive Environment professional development series and the CASEL Leading Schoolwide SEL on-demand course. In addition, I have had the opportunity to facilitate professional development sessions myself, sharing my expertise with other educators.
Beyond my work in the public school system, I have also enjoyed teaching private music lessons and working as a music instructor at various early childhood programs. These experiences have allowed me to connect with students of all ages and backgrounds and to share my passion for music with a wider audience.
I am proud of my accomplishments as an educator, and I am committed to continuing to make a positive impact on the lives of my students. My goal is to inspire a lifelong love of learning and to equip my students with the skills and knowledge they need to succeed in the classroom and beyond.
